  Mise en eau du réseau

PROJECT DISPLAY

Experts-Solidaires works with the Regional Water Directorate (DRE) of Tuléar to support two municipalities:

- Municipality of Ambahikily: Construction of a drinking water network to supply 12,000 people within 15 years.

The commune of Ambahikely is located 200 km north of Tuléar, in a rice-growing area. The population replenishes water in the irrigation canal or in surface wells made of sheet metal. Sanitation is non-existent and defecation in the open is the rule.

- Saint Augustin: Rehabilitation of the Saint Augustin water system (3,500 people).

This network built in 2011 ceased to function in 2012 because of management concern. Experts-Solidaires helps the DRE and the commune of Saint Augustin to set up a new delegation contract accompanied by a rehabilitation component. Social marketing support, aimed at increasing the consumption of drinking water and the number of private connections, was carried out. It enabled the connection of 70 households in December 2015.

In addition, Experts-Solidaires supports ERD in setting up technical and financial monitoring of the networks in the region.
